HDFC Bank in partnership with Mastercard has launched an offer on contactless transactions using Tap n Pay wherein card holders can get 5X reward points or 1% cashback. Let’s dive into the details of offer on credit and debit cards separately to know more.
Credit Card Offer
- Offer: 5X reward points on contact less transactions on HDFC Credit Cards
- Period: 15th December 2020 to 31st January 2021
- Minimum Spend: Minimum 5 transactions of Rs. 500 or above
- Maximum Reward Points: 500
- Fulfillment: Within 60 days from offer end date

Debit Card Offer
- Offer: 1% cashback on contact less transactions on HDFC Debit Cards
- Period: 15th December 2020 to 31st January 2021
- Minimum Spend: Rs. 1,000 per transaction
- Maximum Cashhback: Rs. 50
- Fulfillment: Within 90 days from offer end date

Bottomline
Though the reward rate of this offer is great, the low limit on maximum benefits kills the joy. I wish HDFC Bank should have provided a higher limit on benefits, especially for debit cards. Nevertheless this is a great offer and contactless transactions are the way to go forward.
As per RBI mandate, you can only make transactions up to Rs. 2,000 using contactless feature on your card.
